We are still learning and growing!
Kindergarten has been super busy for the past few weeks, so forgive me for not updating you until now! We have learned 2 new letters since I last posted. Here they are:
"Z says /z/
zebra in the zoo
/z/, /z/, /z/."
"C says /c/
cow on a cab
/c/, /c/, /c/."
We have learned all of our numbers 1 through 10, and we are working on comparing numbers now. (I told you we are learning a lot!)
We have also been learning all about pumpkins!
The local Fire Department came to our school and gave a presentation on Fire Safety. They have a mobile classroom where the students go inside and watch a Fire Safety video and see a fireman dress in his uniform. It is a really great presentation, and very informative for the children! My kids did a great job of paying attention and learning how to "Stop, Drop, and Roll", but the fireman scared them a bit. After explaining that the fireman was only there to show them what he looks like in case of an emergency, and he is there to save them, all was well. The kids got to stand on the firetruck and take a picture - and hear the siren, too!
The most exciting part of this update is our Field Trip to the Farm!!
We had a blast at the farm! And the kids learned so much!
We got to feed to goats,
Watch box turtles race,
Pet a huge tortoise who weighs 50lbs,
(Hello, Sheldon!)
Pet newly hatched baby chicks,
Play with this little cutie, Bella,
And feed this big boy, Wilbur.
We also got to ride ponies, walk through a hay maze, ride a hayride, pick our own pumpkins, ride a choo-choo train, make butter out of goat milk, touch a feed a rabbit and a ferret, and feed a llama!
What a fun day of learning and experiencing new things!
(P.S. - We missed our regular nap time, so we all slept on the way back to school...including the teacher!)
On Friday, we spent the morning painting our pumpkins we got from the Pumpkin Patch!
(I don't know why this photo keeps turning sideways?!)
And Mrs. Murphy showed us how to carve a pumpkin!
We got to feel the gooey insides and count all of the seeds.
Do you like our class pumpkin? We named it "Pumpkin Patch!"
Kindergarten Funnies:
Me: "Mrs. Murphy is tired today."
JL: "I'm not! I'm woke."
Me: "What is a whisker?"
JL: "That little toy thing that makes noise!"
(whisker and whistle are easily confused, right?)
JM: "Mrs. Murphy, my brother threw my binder in the toilet. But I dried it off."
JW: "Mrs. Murphy, what's your last name?"
Me: "Murphy."
JW: "Oh, well what's your real name?"
Me: "Mrs. Murphy."
JW: "My auntie works at the store."
Me: "Really? What store?"
JW: "The store where you can get hot wings and a drink."
TW: "Mrs. Murphy, that boy at breakfast took my Hotty Toddy."
Me: "Took your what?"
TW: "My Hotty Toddy. He took it right off my tray!"
(after much questioning, a Hotty Toddy was a pancake...)
*We say Hotty Toddy a lot! Oops!*
HC: "I've been to China!"
KJ: "I can really speak Chinese."
JL: "Mrs. Murphy, there's a crab in that tree again."
TW: "Ew, a raunch." (roach)
While carving the class pumpkin:
JL: "Mrs. Murphy, I like your color!"
Me: "What do you mean?"
JL: "I like your color on that pumpkin."
Me: "Oh, thank you!"
TW: "Yeah, Mrs. Murphy you did a great job! You're such a big girl!"
Thanks for being patient with me as I keep you posted. I promise to do better this week!
That's all for this week, folks!
Please continue to pray for me, my assistant, and all of my sweet kiddos daily.
Believe me, they are much needed and appreciated.
Until next week,
XOXO
